USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships wraps up with event finals

BRIDGEPORT, Conn., April 14, 2019 – The event champions at the 2019 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships at the University of Bridgeport’s (Conn.) Wheeler Recreation Center are: Kayla Baddeley of the University of Illinois – Chicago, vault; Me Li Costa of Brown University, and Anna Salamone of the U.S. Air Force Academy, uneven bars; Kaitlin Green of Cornell University, balance beam; and Tyler Davis of the U.S. Air Force Academy, floor exercise.
Baddeley tallied a 9.8500 to win the vault title. Seattle Pacific University’s Darian Burns and Salamone went two – three, 9.7750 to 9.7625. The uneven bars final had two ties. Costa and Salamone both posted a 9.8500 to share the crown. Lindenwood’s Katie Bailey and Serna Baker of UIC both received marks of 9.8000 for a piece of the bronze.
Green’s 9.9000 garnered the balance beam gold. Southeastern Missouri State University’s Anna Kaziska was second at 9.8750. A 9.8500 yielded a three-way tie for third: Ryan Henry of Lindenwood, Baddeley and Navia Jordan of Centenary College. For floor, Davis posted a 9.9500 to clinch the title. The silver medal had a four-way tie at 9.8750: UIC’s Alisa Sheremeta, Kaziska, Burns and Jordan.
Earlier in the championships, Lindenwood University won the team title, and Burns won the all-around crown.
The 13 schools and universities represented in the championships are: the U.S. Air Force Academy; Brown University; Centenary College; Cornell University; Lindenwood University; Seattle Pacific University; Southeast Missouri State University; Southern Connecticut State University; Texas Woman’s University; University of Bridgeport; University of Illinois – Chicago; Wester Chester University; and Yale University.
The USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships is for Division I, II and III schools with less than seven-and-a-half full scholarships.
